Accounting Associate I

Location: NH

 

Job Description: The Accounting Associate I will assist in compiling, managing, and executing client and vendor billing and payments; answers inquiries from clients and staff; and be responsible for accuracy in billing and payment processing. Continuous monitoring of accounts, assisting with periodic audits, and monthly/quarterly/yearly filings for required organizations will be a requirement of this position. The Accounting Associate I will report to the person above them in the company organization chart, currently the Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Manager.

Growth opportunities may include positions such as Accounting Associate II, Accounting Associate III, Senior Accounting Associate, Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Clerk, Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Manager, Accounting Analyst and Accounting Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Calculate and prepare commission reports monthly from Supplier information and downloads.
  • Create individual sales commissions reports.
  • Ensures timely and accurate bills are created and sent to commercial customers.
  • Ensures timely and accurate payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers.
  • Reviews, investigates, and follows up independently on requests related to accounts receivable and accounts payable inquiries in a timely, detailed, and thorough manner.
  • Responsible for collection activities such as sending follow-up inquiries, negotiating with past due accounts, and referring accounts to collection agencies.
  • Becomes knowledgeable in the wholesale electricity market and be the liaison between customers and the back office of ISO-NE.
  • Assists with periodic audits of accounts to ensure proper payment has been received from Suppliers.
  • Prepares monthly/quarterly/yearly filings for Public Utilities Commissions, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of long-term and complex customer accounts, including a thorough understanding of the billing calculations and ensuring they are completed in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment in a professional manner.
  • Assists with other duties and projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of accounting experience.
  • Ability to manage tasks and deadlines for multiple long-term concurrent projects.
  • Proficient in computer software programs such as QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis in Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with employees, superiors, and customers.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Well planned, organized with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience in the Energy Industry
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • Professional, friendly, and outgoing demeanor and attitude is a plus
