Community Choice Aggregation in NH:

Local Control, Real Impact

The Town of Hampstead is evaluating a Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program — a locally led initiative that enables communities to choose their electricity supply on behalf of residents and businesses. While Eversource will continue to deliver electricity and maintain the grid, Hampstead can use its collective buying power to pursue competitive rates, local renewable energy options, and more control over energy decisions.

What is CCA?

Community Choice Aggregation (also known as Community Power in New Hampshire) gives municipalities the ability to:

  • Leverage bulk purchasing power for electricity

  • Promote price stability and long-term cost savings

  • Maintain all existing utility services like billing, metering & outage support

  • Offer renewable energy choices aligned with community goals

  • Ensure consumer protection and local oversight

CCAs provide opportunity and flexibility for communities to shape their energy future while still relying on the utility’s trusted infrastructure for reliable service.

What will change?

Stays the Same

  • Eversource delivers & maintains power
  • One monthly bill
  • Existing utility programs continue

What CCA Adds

  • Hampstead selects the energy supplier
  • A new line item shows the energy supply rate on your utility invoice
  • Local choices & potential savings
No one will be enrolled until full approvals are received and residents receive advance notice with the option not to participate.
