Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) Program to Commence in Laconia, NH for Residents and Small Businesses

Continuing November 1, Laconia’s CCA program will enable the community to continue saving on electricity and plan budgets. 

AUBURN and LACONIA, NH – October 15, 2026 – The City of Laconia and Freedom Energy Logistics ("Freedom Energy") today announced the renewal of Laconia's Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) program, extending access to a fixed electricity supply rate for eligible residents and small businesses on electric default service. The renewed program will offer a rate of $0.13699 per kWh from November 1, 2026, through October 31, 2027, with First Point Power (FPP) serving as the electricity supplier. 

Eversource's six-month default rate is $0.14009 per kWh from August 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Laconia's CCA program offers savings of $0.0031 per kWh.

"Following public hearings held by the City's Aggregation Committee in November 2024, the City Council approved the Plan on February 10, 2025. The city launched the CCA program in April 2026 to help residents and small businesses manage ongoing volatility in energy prices, and we are pleased to extend the program for another year. This initiative strengthens affordability, transparency, and local control in energy decision-making for the Laconia community."

Laconia residents who are new to the city since the program's original launch will receive opt-out notices by mail beginning in October. They will have 30 days to opt out of the CCA program before being transitioned from Eversource default service to the Laconia CCA program. Residents who do not opt out may still leave the program at any time without fees or penalties. Customers who already receive electricity supply from a third-party supplier will not be affected. Laconia aggregation customers will continue to receive electricity delivery service from Eversource, and any issues related to metering, billing, or power outages should continue to be directed to Eversource. Customers will also continue to receive their electric bills from Eversource.
