Freedom Energy’s CEO to participate in study of nuclear power and nuclear reactor technology.

Auburn, NHOctober 17, 2022. Freedom Energy Logistics (Freedom Energy) announced today that New Hampshire Governor Sununu appointed Bart Fromuth, CEO, Freedom Energy, to the Commission to investigate the implementation of next generation nuclear reactor technology in New Hampshire.

“I am honored to be appointed by Governor Sununu to serve on this Commission,” stated Bart Fromuth, CEO, Freedom Energy. “I look forward to participating in the evaluation of nuclear power as a potential resource, and the possible applications given the current state of technology for energy production in the State of NH for the future.”

The Commission’s investigation supports eliminating carbon emissions from electricity generation with the urgent goal to mitigate the threat of climate change. Wind and solar generation represent a fraction of energy production, and while carbon-neutral, both are low in energy density and function intermittently. Nuclear power, currently the largest source of carbon-free energy in the U.S., supplies 20% of electricity nationally. Over the last few decades, the state of nuclear reactor technology has advanced significantly, and the Commission will evaluate these new generation technologies alleged to be safer and more reliable than older generation systems.

NH House Bill 543 (HB543) established a commission to study, investigate, and consider legislation or other actions relative to the implementation of next-generation, nuclear reactor technology in New Hampshire. The commission, comprised of eleven appointed committee members, includes: Michael Harrington (House), Keith Ammon (House), Bill Gannon (Senate), Matthew Levander (NextEra Energy/Seabrook Station), Cathy Beahm (New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services), Daniel Goldner (PUC Chair), Alex Fries (DBEA), David Shulock (General Counsel for the DOE), Bart Fromuth (Governor), Christopher McLarnon (Governor), and Marc Brown (Member of the public).

The commission will submit interim reports of its findings and any recommendations for proposed legislation on or before December 1, 2022, and July 1, 2023, and its final report on or before December 1, 2023.
