A Summer of Growth and Opportunity

Freedom Energy Logistics is committed to supporting and guiding emerging professionals as they prepare for the next chapter of their careers. The Summer Internship Program offers students valuable, first-hand experience in the energy industry and an inside look at the work that drives the company forward. Whether contributing to Accounting, Human Resources, Pricing & Contracting, or Marketing, interns gain a broader understanding of how each department works together to support Freedom’s success. Through collaboration, mentorship, and an open-door approach, the program creates meaningful opportunities for learning, growth, and real-world experience. 

This summer, Freedom Energy Logistics welcomed three talented interns who brought curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn to their respective teams.  

Intern Spotlights

Harrison Schnelller supported the Pricing & Contracting team, where he gained hands-on experience communicating with suppliers. By managing a high volume of daily correspondence with professionals from other organizations, Harrison strengthened his business communication skills and developed a deeper understanding of the energy-pricing process. Reflecting on what he learned, Harrison shared, “In my Contracts and Pricing position, I have learned a lot about how energy is priced. One important example is that the wholesale price of energy constantly fluctuates (every five minutes). Because of this, the department I work in gathers new pricing every time a customer asks for pricing. Unfortunately, we cannot merely resend pricing that we have already given them because it will have already changed by the time the request has been communicated.”

Isabella Rosenau contributed to both Accounting and Human Resources, gaining a valuable perspective on the financial and people-focused functions that support an organization. In Accounting, she learned how careful financial management, accuracy, and attention to detail contribute to a company’s overall stability. Isabella explained, “This experience showed me the importance of financial accuracy, responsible resource management, and attention to detail in supporting an organization’s financial health.” Through her work in Human Resources, she also gained insight into employee records, compliance, payroll, workforce analytics, and employee support, as well as the role each plays in building a well-run organization. She added, “This aspect showed me the importance of workforce management, employee support, and data-driven decision-making in Human Resources. It gave me an inside look on how Freedom builds their environment each step of the way.”

Joshua Kahn supported the Marketing team, where he expanded his knowledge of B2B marketing and saw firsthand how his contributions could make a visible impact within a close-knit organization. He gained experience using professional marketing, CRM, and SEO tools, including HubSpot, Salesforce, and SEMrush. One of the highlights of his internship was helping bring an internal two-episode video podcast from concept to execution. Josh shared, “My favorite project I had, was my role in spearheading an internal two-episode video podcast for Freedom from concept to execution. I learned how to budget equipment and pre-plan content outlines to align with Freedom’s thought-leadership goals. I built a professional set, coordinated with a top-level video crew, Heartwood Media, and worked closely with the speakers to help with any questions they might have had.”

Meaningful Experience, Lasting Impact

Throughout the summer, Freedom Energy Logistics demonstrated its commitment to developing emerging professionals by providing meaningful, hands-on experiences that extended beyond traditional internship responsibilities. Rather than limiting interns to observation, the company entrusted them with substantive projects that supported daily operations and broader organizational goals. Through their work across several departments, the interns strengthened practical skills, expanded their knowledge of the business, and built confidence in a professional setting. Freedom’s supportive and collaborative environment encouraged them to ask questions, embrace new challenges, and gain valuable insight into the energy industry. This investment reflects the company’s continued commitment to cultivating future professionals and helping interns establish a strong foundation for their careers.

Beyond their day-to-day responsibilities, the interns were encouraged to immerse themselves in the broader energy community through a variety of professional development and networking opportunities. Throughout the summer, they attended events such as Worcester Business Journal programs, NEWIEE networking and educational events, and energy facility tours that provided firsthand insight into the industry’s operations and innovation. These experiences allowed them to connect with professionals across the sector, gain exposure to diverse career paths, and deepen their understanding of the complex and evolving energy landscape. Together, these opportunities complemented their hands-on work experience and enriched their overall internship journey.

To mark the conclusion of the program, Freedom Energy Logistics hosted a company chili cook-off as a special thank-you to the interns and a celebration of all they accomplished throughout the summer. The event offered employees an opportunity to come together, recognize the interns’ hard work and contributions, and celebrate their success. With team camaraderie, friendly competition, games, and plenty of chili, the gathering provided a memorable and fitting conclusion to the internship experience.
